In the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, we have a theme centered upon Witness, Mercy, and Life Together. The Greek words are Martyria, Diakonia, and Koinonia, respectively. You can see this theme illustrated in the art work on this page.
This three-fold emphasis helps us remember just who we are as a church. We are called to be faithful to the inspired and inerrant word of God. We confess this in both our words and our deeds. We confess that we are sinners in need of forgiveness as we fail to meet the standards of God's Holy Law. Yet, we confess the Gospel too! This is what motivates us to live lives that witness Christ's love for all sinners, that show mercy to our community, and that lead to true life-together as we gather together around God's word and sacrament.
You'll be happy to see that we are a church that cares not only for those within our church, but also for those outside as we actively seek the lost and show mercy to our neighbor.
